Annual Shenandoah Christmas Decoration Contest

Shenandoah, VA, December 2, 2011 – The Shenandoah Merchants Association (SMA) announced the start of the second annual Shenandoah Christmas Decoration Contest. The contest is open to all residences and businesses in the Shenandoah 22849 zip code. Cash and prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place residence. Last year over $1200 worth of cash and prizes were awarded!

This year the Shenandoah Christmas Decoration Contest will judge the decorations in each of eight categories: Christmas Spirit, Theme, Attractiveness, Workmanship, Originality, Magical, Redneck, and Presentation. A score of 1 to 10 will be awarded in each category and the category scores will be added together for a total score between 8 and 80. First prize will be awarded to the decoration with the highest total score, second prize goes to the second highest total score, and third place goes to the third highest. All ties will be decided by the SMA Board of Directors.

Entries must be received by December 10, 2011. Decorations must be completed by December 15, 2011. Judging will be performed on December 16, 2011. Prizes will be awarded on December 19, 2011.
